  • This villa project was crafted with care and created with sheer love. When our clients decided to move from the hustle and bustle of the city to the outskirts, surrounded by a mango orchard, they wanted something simple, functional and easy to maintain. The client is a graphic and has an artistic bent of mind. Our conversation was effortless and with a few sketches on paper, saw an advent of an elegant Mood Board, that showcased modern sensibilities coupled with soft and warm colour detailing.

We created carved wooden panels as a focal point in the entrance, concealing storage space. The main door was designed with a Sanskrit shloka that the clients resonated with. Every object and design detail in this home is based on logical reasoning and design thinking. The clients bought some beautiful pieces from Bali that added a warm and contemporary feel.

The dining room was designed as a sanctuary: a large space with lots of natural light that welcomes outdoors into the indoors. We chose an onyx dining table with brass inlay and rustic wooden chairs to match. We also added and a statement chandelier above the dining table. Curved veneered panelling was created to add a flow to the space, boxing away storage while the tall console flushed with sliding shutters opened into an opulent glass bar for entertaining.

We opted for a neutral palette for the daughters bedroom. A leather headboard was made with metallic buttons, adding softness with a subtle wallpaper and curtain detailing. The charcoal metal art deco frame complemented the terrazzo tiles and the wooden storage cabinet. The Master Bedroom was layered with many textures, including stone, wood and metal. It was also important to have all the sections flow nicely together to make it feel like a cohesive unit while still maintaining each area’s distinct purpose. The intricate carved marble counter, a wooden backlit mirror and art deco wall lights were laid in the master toilet to create a mood. The timber’s natural walnut hues of the window frame and the rattan bed, elegant wallpaper, stripped fabric for upholstery and honest unpretentious artefacts were all factored in, to ensure that the daily life within the house became the highlight of this home.

The large and elegant kitchen was created to suit everyday family cooking and also featured beautiful wallpaper that was custom designed by the client.

The terrace was an extremely important feature for the couple, who love entertaining and spending quiet time outdoors. The beautiful sliding shutters, hand-painted by our client, add a lovely personal touch and also serve to hide the television.
