This 5,000-square-feet large home for a family of five was an exercise in blending simplicity with sleekness. The owners were certain about eschewing opulence, instead opting for a refined, graceful and welcoming appeal for their apartment.

While the space houses individuals with varying personalities and tastes, the family is also one that delights in hosting guests from time to time, which means that the guest rooms are as important as the spaces the family members inhabit. The challenge for ASD was to ensure the sprawling house is usable and functional without making it appear too stark or bare. This was achieved by playing around with multiple materials and textures that range from robust to subtle—such as natural wood, marble, stone and brass—lending an understated elegance to the space.
