  • "Nothing opulent, just clean, straight lines, functional, and low-maintenance,” was the design brief from Shally and Thomas. Their 4200 sq ft apartment featured an open floor plan. The challenge for us was to create a more intimate setting, ensuring that the sections flowed into each other like one cohesive unit.

In order to contain the 800 sq ft living room, we created a hallway with two floor-to-ceiling pillars and a feature wall, handcrafted out of fluted timber, to complement the adjacent wall. An alcove was added to divide the long wall next to the pillars, which was lined with a curated selection of books and artefacts.

The furniture is the highlight of the apartment and includes some of the family’s own pieces collected during their travels, and others hand-picked by ASD. The wooden dining table is paired with ‘Tangali’ chairs from Phantom Hands and the space is decorated with elegant carpets complemented by ikkat upholstery and artefacts. A large abstract canvas painted by the client hangs behind the dining area to add some colour to the space. The sizeable open kitchen from Magari combines modern and minimalist aesthetics.
